Lufthansa resumes flights from Nairobi to Frankfurt
On August 1, Lufthansa resumed flights to Nairobi operating three weekly flights from Jomo
Kenyatta International Airport to the airline’s largest hub in Frankfurt, Germany. Lufthansa is
continuing to meet the pent-up demand of its loyal customers throughout Kenya and will now
connect Nairobi to its growing net-work of international destinations that are slowly easing travel
The resumed route will operate out of Nairobi on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays using an
Airbus 330-300 with a three-class configuration of Business, Premium Economy and Economy
classes. Initially, flights will operate three times per week in August. In September, Lufthansa
Group flights to/from Nairobi will further increase to five times weekly.

By the end of October, over 70 percent of the originally planned long-haul routes will be operated
by the Lufthansa Group carriers. Additionally, 90 percent of all originally planned short- and
medium-haul destinations will be served again. More than 2,000 weekly flights to over 130
destinations worldwide will be operated by the Lufthansa Group carriers in the remaining months
of the summer season.

Temporary closure of the Lufthansa / SWISS City office Nairobi
As you know, Lufthansa German Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines decided to temporary suspend their operations as of the 22nd of March and 19th of March 2020 respectively, due to the exceptional circumstances related to the outbreak of Coronavirus and due to the travel restrictions imposed by the health authorities wordwide.

Refunds Functionality Temporarily Disabled

Given the extraordinary circumstances caused by the worldwide Coronavirus crisis, Lufthansa & Swiss International Airlines will suspend flight operations from/to Nairobi as follows:
All flights from Nairobi to Frankfurt will be suspended – effective 22nd of March until the 19th of April 2020.
All flights from Nairobi to Zurich are suspended – effective 19th of March until the 19th of April 2020.
Lufthansa Group Reducing Flight CapacityReceived on – 18th March 2020
Due to the exceptional circumstances caused by the spread of the coronavirus and the resulting drastic decline in bookings as well as numerous flight cancellations Lufthansa Group decided to reduce the flight capacity on offer even more than previously planned.
Swiss International Airlines
Swiss International Airlines is suspending its operation between Nairobi and Zurich / Dar es Salaam and Zurich as of the 20th of March 2020.
Lufthansa is reducing its operation between Frankfurt and Nairobi as of the 18th of March until the 14th of April 2020 to 3 weekly flights. The new schedule is Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until the end of winter. Starting summer Lufthansa will operate between Frankfurt and Nairobi on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday.
Lufthansa is suspending its operation between Frankfurt and Addis Ababa as of the 18th of March 2020.
