Thailand Visa Requirements

  • Tourist visas for Kenyan passport holders have resumed issuing visas.
  • Business visas for Kenyans going to meet / work or trade with Thai Companies we are issuing visas when all documents are in order.
  • Indian passport holders are eligible for a visa on arrival into Thailand if they intend to stay for less than 15 days for tourism purposes. 

The following are the required documents for visa and COE application.

1. original valid Passport
2. visa application form to be completely filled and signed

4. Two colored passport photos were recently taken with a white background
(3.5 by 4.5 cm)

7. A copy of health insurance policy to cover medical treatment in
Thailand which includes COVID-19 worth at least 100,000 USD
8. Bank statements for the last 6  months certified by the bank with a
minimum balance of 16000 USD
9. A letter of invitation from the company in Thailand and a copy of ID
(if Thai National ), passport, and work permit of the person drafting
the invitation letter.
10. Copy of registration Certificates of the company in Thailand
11. Copy of Value Added Tax Certificate of the Company in Thailand
12. Letter from the applicant’s organization/ company
13. Certificate of registration of the applicant’s Company
14. visa fee will be 8000 Kenyan shillings paid in cash or via Mpesa paybill number 505199 after all documents are in order. Our visa takes two working days to be processed.

Visa and Legalization | ตรวจลงตราและนิติกร: Requirements for Certificate of Entry (COE) during the travel restriction

On 2 July 2020, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) made an announcement regarding the extension of the travel ban on commercial flights to Thailand until further notice, as well as permission to enter Thailand for certain categories of non-Thai nationals, who will need a Certificate of Entry (COE) along with appropriate visa in order to enter Thailand. 

Diplomatic Corps and International Organizations (DCIOs) including their spouse, parents, or children

Required documents to apply for visa application (if necessary) and COE at the Embassy, which must be submitted in person, by DHL, or by email (only for COE) to visa@thainbi.or.ke :

  2. Declaration form (for DCIOs), duly completed and signed
  3. Letter from the host agency or international organization affirming responsibility for healthcare or treatment expenses, or documentary evidence demonstrating a guarantee that the traveler is able to take responsibility for his/her own healthcare or treatment expenses, including COVID-19, throughout the duration of stay in Thailand
  4. Hotel booking for Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) at one of the hotels approved by the Thai authorities

Required documents to be presented at the port of embarkation and upon entry into Thailand

  1. COE issued by the Embassy
  2. Declaration form (for DCIOs), duly completed and signed
  3. Fit-to-Fly or Fit-to-Travel health certificate
  4. Medical certificate with RT-PCR laboratory result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected, issued no more than 72 hours before travelling
  5. Family members of Thai nationals (spouse/child/parent)

Required documents to apply for visa application (if necessary) and COE at the Embassy, which must be submitted in person, by DHL, or by email (only for COE) to visa@thainbi.or.ke :

  1. Passport and visa applcation form with all supporting documents, in case you need a visa.   5. Hotel booking for Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) at one of the hotels approved by the Thai authorities
  6. Copy of health insurance policy to cover medical treatment in Thailand which includes COVID-19 worth at least 100,000 USD

Those in need of medical treatment in Thailand (not include medical treatment for COVID-19) and their attendants (up to 3 people)

Required documents to apply for visa application (if necessary) and COE at the Embassy, which must be submitted in person, by DHL, or by email (only for COE) to visa@thainbi.or.ke :

  1. Passport and visa applcation form with all supporting documents, in case you need a visa. If not, please provide copy of the existing valid visa page or re-entry permit issued by the Immigration Bureau. Staying up to 60 days requires Tourist visa Type MT (http://thaiembassy.org/nairobi/th/services/5576/63786-Tourist-Visa.html), while staying up to 90 days requires non-immigrant visa type O (http://thaiembassy.org/nairobi/th/services/5576/63787-Non-%E2%80%93-Immigrant-Visa.html).
  2. Declaration form, duly completed and signed
  3. Financial evidence proving sufficient fund for medical treatment and other expenses while in Thailand with attached bank statement
  4. Letter from a hospital in Thailand confirming the acceptance as in-patient with appointment schedule (if possible), the transfer from the airport to the hospital, and the arrangement for 14-day quarantine in the hospital for the patient and all attendants
  5. Document proving relationship between the patient and attendants as immediate family
  6. Copy of health insurance policy to cover medical treatment in Thailand which includes COVID-19 worth at least 100,000 USD

Required documents to be presented at the port of embarkation and upon entry into Thailand

  1. COE issued by the Embassy
  2. Declaration form, duly completed and signed
  3. Fit-to-Fly or Fit-to-Travel health certificate
  4. Medical certificate with RT-PCR laboratory result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected, issued no more than 72 hours before travelling
  5. Letter from a hospital in Thailand confirming the acceptance as in-patient with appointment schedule (if possible), the transfer from the airport to the hospital, and the arrangement for 14-day quarantine in the hospital for the patient and all attendants

After arrival in Thailand, the traveler must strictly follow the public health guidelines and will be under hospital quarantine 14 days at his/her own expense

Students of educational institutions approved by Thai authorities, including their parents or guardians
…except for student of non-formal educational institutions under the law on Private Schools and of other similar private educational institutions

Required documents to apply for visa application (if necessary) and COE at the Embassy, which must be submitted in person, by DHL, or by email (only for COE) to visa@thainbi.or.ke :

  1. Passport and visa applcation form with all supporting documents, in case you need a visa. If not, please provide copy of the existing valid visa page or re-entry permit issued by the Immigration Bureau.   7. Copy of health insurance policy to cover medical treatment in Thailand which includes COVID-19 worth at least 100,000 USD

Thailand Visa Requirements

Tourist Visa

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • The visa application form completely filled out.
  • Recent two photographs (passport size 3.5 cm. x 4.5 cm.) with a white background, taken within the past six months.
  • Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with the official stamp of the bank.
  • Agents are eligible to apply on behalf of some travelers (Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda). The identity card or passport and its copy, as well as a letter of consent from the travelers to act on their behalf, are required to present. Consular officers reserve the rights to request for an interview.
  • The nationalities of Uganda and Seychelles living in their home countries are advised to apply for Tourist and Transit visa at Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Kampala and Victoria respectively.
  • Evidence of travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full).
  • Evidence of adequate finance.
  • Letter of employment (if applicable).
  • Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary.

  • Student ID card if a student.
  • Copy of biodata page of passport.

Validity of visa: The validity of a visa is 3 months or 6 months.

Period of stay: Upon arrival, travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 60 days.

Extension of stay: Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120, Tel 02 287-3101-10 or at http://www.immigration.go.th The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer..
Travelers coming to Thailand with Tourist visa (category \”MT\”) are permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 60 days. Extension of stay for an additional 30 days also can be requested from the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Transit Visa

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • The visa application form completely filled out.
  • Recent two photographs (passport size 3.5 cm. x 4.5 cm.) with a white background, taken within the past six months.
  • Evidence of travel from Thailand (confirmed air ticket paid in full).
  • Original bank statement of the applicant or a print out with the official stamp of the bank.
  • Agents are eligible to apply on behalf of some travelers (Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Uganda). The identity card or passport and its copy, as well as a letter of consent from the travelers to act on their behalf, are required to present. Consular officers reserve the rights to request for an interview.
  • Visa of a third country in a passport or travel document.
  • Letter of invitation stating the application\’s participation in sports activities in the Kingdom.
  • Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary.
  • Hotel booking if staying for a night.
  • Copy of biodata page of passport.

Validity of visa: 3 months.

Period of stay: Travelers coming to Thailand with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 30 days.

Extension of stay: Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120, Tel 02 287-3101-10 or at http://www.immigration.go.th The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
